About
Katie Edick is 46 years old and has been living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) for 6 years. She has been happily married for the past 19 years to the greatest, most selfless man on earth, Brent.  They have two amazing children Drew, 18 and Anna, 15. Katie has been an occupational therapist for 22 years and has worked for the Ionia County Intermediate School District for 17 years in Early Intervention (a birth to three program). She also worked for 5 years part-time at Grand Valley State University as a clinical affiliate, teaching master's level occupational therapy students. Currently, Katie has been volunteering with Little Pink Houses on Hope leading yearly retreats for families going through breast cancer. She is also engaging more with patient advocacy through sharing her story on local news programs and helping to educate and advocate for legislation and research to support families going through a breast cancer diagnosis. Katie has begun to mentor other MBC patients through Imerman Angels. She was the social media coordinator for Michigan Breast Cancer Coalition for a year and a half. Katie recently attended the National Breast Coalition's Project LEAD. A five day institute to further her understanding of breast cancer. She is a Hear My Voice Advocate with Living Beyond Breast Cancer. Katie enjoys trips to Mackinac Island, one of her happy places, Broadway musicals, scrap-booking and time with family and friends. Stage 4 breast cancer will not define her or be a measure of her worth. She is so much more. Choosing Joy every step of the way as she navigates her new story.
